Amatan Chronicles
He balanced on the fallen tree that allowed him to pass the rocky river. He felt the bark on his bare feet as he slowly went foot after foot across the branch. His companion, the wolf, jumped across the bigger rocks of the river. He could have followed the wolf, but he wanted to have a little more fun. So he decided to adventure across the log.
The boy felt mist flying up around his bare body. It was refreshing in the heat of the forest, was almost taunting him to jump into the river. That was not an option because the boy knew that the devious snake could swim, and he could not.
The boy continued across the branch keeping balance. He knew that balance was key in this situation, but knew not of the real importance of balance in the future. For when balance is disrupted, forth comes troubling times.
He walked on, but then he saw the snake sunbathing on a rock in the river, he took several quick steps forward but stepped on a sharp twig sticking out from the branch. The balance faltered, and he failed to steady himself. With his arms flailing, he fell from the branch, and into the cold river. The freezing water shocked his senses as he was drawn towards the sharp rocks of the river. The snake was waiting for him at the rocks up ahead, and when he came back up, the intensity made him so tense, that he forgot to take a breath.
Then, as his body smacked into a furry beast, he winced, forcing him to inhale, therefore saving his life. This beast also saved him from snake, and the sharp edges of the rocks ahead. The wolf had saved his life.
The wolf nudged the boy onto the riverbed. Kids learn from their mistakes he knew, but sometimes they still need saving. This kid had a lot to learn, but for now, the love of his companion was all he needed. Love prevailed against the wickedness and snares of the snake this time, but soon this boy would need to learn.
